Who is Eligible to Join?

Companies committed to improving their sustainability practices and impacts are eligible to become BSR members. Eligible companies and organizations can join at any time during the calendar year, and dues are renewed annually based on annual revenue.

We maintain an open membership policy. Our approach is based on a belief that engagement is the best way to improve both the impact of individual companies and the collective impact of the private sector overall. We have established 16 Project Principles to drive action and guide our work with companies, our insights, and our recommendations.

What Does Membership Cost?

Annual membership dues are tiered based on the company's gross annual revenues or the organization’s annual operating budget. To find your tier, please refer to our tiers below:

Annual Dues

Less than US$5 billion US$20,000
US$5 billion – less than US$10 billion US$25,000
US$10 billion – less than US$20 billion US$32,000
US$20 billion – less than US$50 billion US$40,000
US$50 billion or more US$47,000

Associate Membership is only available to non-company organizations with revenue below USD$1 billion (e.g., NGOs, nonprofits, and academic institutions).

Membership Payment Options

Your company is welcome to allocate BSR membership costs across multiple departments internally if that works best for your budgeting process.

Although uncommon, if your company uses separate team Purchase Orders (POs), we can accommodate more than one PO. Due to the extra administrative overhead, we recommend splitting payments across multiple POs only for companies with over US$10 billion in annual revenue.

Charitable Contributions and Tax Deductibles

Part of your membership dues is considered a charitable contribution and tax deductible. Billing can provide documentation as proof of charitable contribution, if requested. For more information on this documentation, please reach out to [email protected].
