Work with civil society, academia, technologists, and leaders with lived experience to advance the use of technology to prevent, disrupt, and reduce human trafficking. Address the misuse of technology to facilitate the crimein facilitating human trafficking.

Our Strategy for Impact

Tech Against Trafficking works to advance new and emerging technologies to prevent, disrupt, and reduce human trafficking and to address the misuse of technology to facilitate the crime by:

Leveraging the technical expertise and resources of participating organizations to further the capabilities and scale of organizations that combat human trafficking;
Forging partnerships between organizations that combat human trafficking and global businesses;
Building an ecosystem of actors that will provide ongoing support for scalable technology solutions to human trafficking.

How We Work

The Global Business Coalition Against Human Trafficking (GBCAT) serves as Tech Against Trafficking’s parent organization.

Tech Against Trafficking is a group of technology companies collaborating with global nonprofits, academics, and relevant stakeholders to help eradicate human trafficking using technology.

Our work is focused on the following areas:

Tech and AI Innovation: Accelerating the use of technology and AI to support anti-trafficking efforts
Online Trafficking: Addressing the misuse of online platforms, products, and services
Data Standards and AI in Supply Chains: Address forced labor and labor exploitation in global supply chains

Kathryn Doyle

Kathryn works with a range of BSR member companies, particularly in the technology sector, on human rights issues. She has conducted a variety of country-level human rights risk assessments and focused on online platform regulatory projects under the EU's Digital Services Act and UK's Online Safety Act. Additionally, she supports the Tech Against Trafficking collaborative initiative.

Kathryn has particular expertise in working with companies on stakeholder engagement, is a skillful project manager, and works to develop strong and supportive relationships with our BSR member companies.

Prior to joining BSR, Kathryn worked on programs, advocacy, research, grant writing, and civil society engagement at Global Partners Digital and other NGOs focused on human rights.

Kathryn holds a MA in Global Social Work and Policy from Boston College and a BA in English from Loyola University Maryland.

Paris

Claudio leads BSR’s portfolio on addressing modern slavery, human trafficking, and forced labor. He develops guidance for companies seeking to prevent and mitigate human trafficking and forced labor risks and advances policies to scale impact through BSR’s collaborative initiatives like Tech Against Trafficking, the Global Business Coalition Against Human Trafficking, and Building Responsibly.

He brings almost two decades of years of experience in managing multidisciplinary programs on criminal justice, human rights, and security in multilateral settings. Prior to joining BSR, he worked at the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), establishing and leading the Secretariat of the UN Inter-Agency Coordination Group Against Trafficking in Persons (ICAT). As a senior advisor to the Special Representative for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), he oversaw country needs assessments in North America, Europe, Asia, and North Africa.

Claudio holds a MA in Advanced International Studies from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, Austria and an Executive Certificate from Harvard JFK School of Government in building and leading diverse organizations. He speaks English, French, Spanish, and Italian.

Kelly works with BSR member companies to develop sustainability strategies, assess human rights impacts, and engage rightsholders. Her areas of expertise include modern slavery and anti-human trafficking and the rights of workers and communities in the energy transition. Kelly works with companies across industries, including renewable energy and extractives and consumer products.

Prior to joining BSR, Kelly worked as a consultant on various human rights projects, including issues of modern slavery and labor rights in global supply chains. Kelly has also worked extensively on women’s rights, including two years leading a women’s economic empowerment program in Surkhet, Nepal and four years working with the United Nations Foundation on international reproductive health and rights.

Kelly holds an MA in Human Rights Studies from Columbia University.

Alice works with members across sectors to advance human rights through cross-industry and multi-stakeholder collaboration. She manages several collaborative initiatives, including Building Responsibly, the Global Business Coalition against Human Trafficking (GBCAT), and the Healthcare and Human Rights Forum.

At BSR, Alice has supported members in designing and implementing human rights governance, strategy, and due diligence, with a particular focus on anti-trafficking.

Prior to joining BSR, Alice managed a campaign at the British Parliament on an initiative to strengthen the supply chain transparency requirements of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015. Previously, she had policy and research roles with a human rights focus at the Argentine Council for International Relations, the European Commission, and the Italian National Research Council. Alice is the co-author of Crime and Global Justice: The Dynamics of International Punishment, published by Polity in 2018.

Alice holds an MA in International Relations: Latin America—Europe from the University of Bologna and an MA in History and Spanish from the University of Edinburgh. She speaks English, French, Italian, and Spanish.

Lale focuses on the intersection of human rights and technology, helping companies integrate human rights considerations into their technology products, services, and broader business operations. She specializes in responsible AI, end-use risks of tech products and services, and online platform risks.

Lale leads BSR's Tech Against Trafficking collaboration, which brings together some of the largest tech companies in the world to advance the use of technology to fight human trafficking and modern slavery, and to address human trafficking on online platforms and in global supply chains. Lale also leads BSR’s new multi-company working group focused on Labor Rights in the AI Data Supply Chain, which aims to promote labor rights for data enrichment workers preparing datasets and training algorithms that form the basis of AI.

Prior to BSR, Lale worked at Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise division, where she played a key role in establishing the company's cloud business across Turkey, the Middle East, and Africa. She also worked with the Partnership on AI to help build its AI for Social Good strategy.

Lale holds an MBA from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business, where she focused on responsible business practices. She received a BA in Political Science and International Relations from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey.
