Our Focus Area team consists of global experts across multiple focus areas, bringing a depth of experience and knowledge to integrating focus areas and sustainability strategies.

Alessia works with BSR member companies across industries on sustainability management, including stakeholder engagement, materiality, strategy, and reporting, among other topics. She manages BSR’s Future of Reporting collaboration, a group of companies sharing reporting best practices and tracking the regulatory landscape in the US and EU.

Alessia brings with her nearly 8 years of experience in sustainability reporting. Prior to joining BSR, Alessia worked in the financial services sector within sustainability teams managing the publication of sustainability reports and ranking and rating submissions. She also worked at GRI where she helped companies better understand and use the GRI Standards.

Alessia holds a BSc in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. A Canadian and Italian national, she speaks English, Italian and French.

Adam Fishman

Adam works with BSR member companies across industries on sustainability management, including stakeholder engagement, materiality, strategy and reporting, among other topics.

Prior to BSR, Adam was a thematic expert on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the International Institute for Sustainable Development, focusing on the linkages between climate, development, business, and sustainable consumption and production. He previously worked on the SDGs team at World Resources Institute. During his graduate studies, Adam interned at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and was a Coca-Cola World Fund fellow with Conservation International, researching the strategic connections between the SDGs and corporate sustainability.

Adam holds a Master’s in Environmental Management from the Yale School of the Environment, specializing in Business and the Environment. He has a BA in Environmental Studies and Government, with a concentration in International Politics, from Wesleyan University.

Ogi Kanaya

With deep experience as researcher and consultant, Ogi advises companies in Japan on a range of sustainability topics to promote business practices that are aligned with global and forward-looking perspectives. Within her sustainability management consulting work, she focuses on materiality analysis, sustainability strategy development, and stakeholder engagement.

Prior to joining BSR, Ogi worked for a research consultancy for 20 years. She focused on a wide range of environmental issue areas, including climate change, circular economy, disclosure, and communications to governments and the private sector.

She holds an M.A. in Policy Science from Doshisha University Graduate School of Policy and Management.

Miwa Naito

Manager, Human Rights

Tokyo

Miwa supports BSR’s advisory services in sustainability management and human rights across industries in Japan and overseas. She also supports the Human Rights Working Group in Tokyo.

Prior to joining BSR, Miwa worked as a field coordinator on agriculture projects in conflict-affected areas in Sri Lanka, where she supervised overall project progress. Miwa also interned at the Asia Foundation, where she conducted a research on women’s empowerment in the Philippines and developed monitoring and evaluation tools for peace and stability programs. Before working at international development space, Miwa worked as a product planner at Panasonic for more than 3 years.

Miwa holds a MA in International Affairs from the School of Global Policy and Strategy at the University of California, San Diego and a BA in Politics from Rikkyo University.
